2025-09-13 During a hearing, Katie Porter sparred Heritage Foundation’s Dr. Burke about universal childcare. Dr. Burke asserted that universal childcare is investing with “other people’s money”. At one-point, Representative Porter asked Dr. Burke if she had children, to which Dr. Burke said she didn’t want to get her own children involved.
2025-09-14 Democrats in New Mexico put THEIR plan together to get the first universal childcare in THEIR State.

2025-12-26 A right-wing shock vlogger Nick Shirley demanded entry into daycare centers and accused Somali residents of $9B in childcare fraud.
The viral video prompted DHS to conduct a massive investigation in Minnesota.
Trump politicized the issue by freezing childcare funds to Minnesota and five (5) Democrat-led states.
Several media outlets including Fox News featured investigative reporting disproving the vlogger’s claims and showed security camera footage of parents showing up to drop their children off at the center.
Daycare centers across the State of Minnesota have received harassing phone calls, threats, and other content creators banging on their doors.
It is also important to note – for context – that the Heritage Foundation Project 2025 has a mandate in their text to dismantle and defund childcare, so demonizing childcare in this country isactually partof the Trump and Heritage Foundation agenda. Pages 482 and 486 outlines a plan to completely dismantle availability to childcare so women will be forced out of the workplace. That includes single mothers that they love to demonize.
This is why I brought this up. It might not be related to universal childcare, but I just felt it had close ties BECAUSE it’s about childcare.
