1999-08-16 David Horowitz wrote an article in Salon.com titled, “Guns don’t kill black people, other blacks do” and the caption below said, “The NAACP’s ludicrous idea to sue gun manufacturers is yet another attempt by the left to avoid personal responsibility for some individuals’ bad behavior”. Another excerpt of this article read, “If blacks are oppressed in America, why isn’t there a black exodus? Why do all those black Haitians want to come here? To be oppressed?”.

2020-08-25 Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old at the time, drove from Illinois to Wisconsin with an AR-15 and shot three protesters in the wake of the Jacob Blake shooting. He was hailed by Conservatives as a defender of Second Amendment rights and was acquitted on all charges including first-degree intentional homicide. FYI, news outlets reported that Kash Patel tried to help Rittenhouse sue Biden and the media for character assassination even though he brought guns across state lines to a protest – then later in 2026 Patel admonished Alex Pretti for carrying a legal weapon before he was executed by ICE.

They also repealed the ATF’s zero tolerance policy that aimed to revoke the licenses of gun dealers who willfully violated federal law, gutted funding for community-based violence intervention programs, and removed $1B in funding for the Department of Education to provide mental health support to students.

2025-08-28 During a White House press brief, right-wing influencer Brandon Tatum said the most recent school shooting was not a “gun thing”, but a mental health thing. For context, Brandon Tatum is a Charlie Kirk follower who took stage at a Turning Point USA conference in 2021 in Orlando.
