2025-06-21 Trump posted on social media, “I HATE ‘GREEN TAX CREDITS’ IN THE GREAT, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL. They are largely a giant SCAM….Windmills, and the rest of this is ‘JUNK’”. He continued to express his upset that energy would require government subsidy and that windmill parts are made in China (context: several of Trump’s merchandise items are made in China).

2025-07-04 As outlined in Project 2025, Trump signed a sweeping reconciliation bill HR-1 that would add $3.3T (trillion) to the national debt while eliminating renewable energy subsidies by modifying or terminating clean energy incentives in the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.
2025-07-25 During a visit to Scotland, Trump objected to windmills ruining the view of his golf course and ordered leadership to “stop the windmills, you’re ruining your countries. I really mean it”.
2025-07-27 During a meeting with the President of the European Commission, Trump complained about windmills, calling them a “very ugly energy” and asserting “wind is the most expensive form of energy and it destroys the beauty of your fields and your plains and your waterways”.

2025-08-26 During a press conference, Trump denounced windmills after having just cancelled a nearly complete offshore wind project ( Revolution Wind in RI and CT) and announced his plans to “drill-baby-drill” stating, “We don’t call it coal, we call it clean coal, and even very very clean coal”.

2025-10-02 In a retaliatory move during the government shutdown, Trump pulled $8B in clean energy products from Democratic states.
