2021-09-01 During a presentation at Pacifica Christian High School JD Vance shared his contempt for no-fault divorce, stating, ”…and this is one of the great tricks that I think the sexual revolution pulled on the American populace, which is this idea that, like, well, okay, these marriages were fundamentally, you know, they were maybe even violent, but certainly they were unhappy. And so getting rid of them and making it easier for people to shift spouses like they change their underwear, that’s going to make people happier in the long term. And maybe it worked out for the moms and dads – though I’m skeptical – but it really didn’t work out for the kids in those marriages…”.

2025-12-17 During a confirmation hearing for judicial nominees, Senators grilled Justin Olson about his past sermons where he allegedly stated that disabled people should not marry and that wives should be subject to their husbands. He was asked, “You said that God – quote – has called wives to be subject to their husbands – end quote – and to – quote – serve the good of your husband and support his calling – close quote”. To which he responded, “I think I recall saying something along those lines”. When asked what he meant by that, he replied, “So in Christian marriage as explained by the apostles, I was describing our church’s understanding of what Christian marriage ought to look like”.
2026 January
2026-01-14 The Heritage Foundation has a Project 2026 agenda to totally eliminate no-fault divorce, removing agency from women (and some men) from being able to leave an abusive or unwanted marriage.
Their online page is already talking about no-fault divorce, saying, “Over the course of 60 years, casual sex, abortion, childlessness by choice, and no-fault divorce became normalized, while marriage and the natural family became stigmatized”.
An excerpt from Project 2026 on the Heritage Foundation website, titled Saving America by Saving the Family reads, ”These two forces – big government liberalism and second-wave feminism – combined to radically change how men and women thought about their roles in the home.”
