SAMPLE LETTER
Dear Sir or Madam,
I find it deeply troubling to witness what I perceive as a pattern of intimidation and bullying by the Trump administration. In my view, political opponents, critics, and institutions are too often subjected to retaliation, public attacks, legal pressure, threats, and other actions that can create a climate of fear and discourage open disagreement. I am also concerned by the administration’s treatment of allies and neighboring countries, including rhetoric and actions directed toward places such as Greenland and Canada, which I believe undermine constructive international relationships.
These behaviors are inconsistent with the principles of mutual respect, civic discourse, and democratic governance that I believe should characterize American leadership. Citizens should be free to express their views and participate in public life without fear of retaliation from their government. When political power is used to intimidate or silence dissent, it can erode public trust, weaken democratic institutions, and diminish the freedoms that are fundamental to our society.
The examples below further illustrate these concerns. SOME OF THE CONTENT LISTED IS FOR HISTORICAL CONTEXT.
