2018-06-19 Under the first Trump administration the U.S. withdrew from the UN Human Rights Council. Secretary Pompeo called the council “a poor defender of human rights”, accused it of allowing authoritarian government in its membership, claimed unfair election processes, and claimed bias against Israel. The UN representative at the time Nikki Haley also made her remarks.

2024-12-16 A Human Rights Watch report examined the use of family-separation as a deterrent and cited that 1,360 children remained separated from their parents six years later.

2026-04-21 Amnesty International’s annual Global Human Rights report described the leaders of Israel, Russia, and the United States as “voracious predators” pursuing economic and political domination, citing the Iran war, genocide, violence in Lebanon, and the Gaza conflict
