SAMPLE LETTER
Dear Member of Congress,
I am writing to express my deep frustration with the Trump administration’s systematic dismantling of climate programs and environmental protections.
The administration has withdrawn from the Paris Agreement, weakened clean-air and clean-water rules, cut staff and funding at NOAA, EPA, FEMA, and the Forest Service, eliminated climate research, reduced disaster-prevention programs, and expanded drilling, mining, logging, and fossil-fuel development. It has also removed climate information from government websites and sidelined scientists whose work is essential to public safety.
These actions come as Americans face worsening heat, drought, flooding, wildfires, severe storms, water contamination, rising insurance costs, and threats to food and energy security. Ignoring climate science does not make these dangers disappear—it leaves communities less prepared and gives polluters greater freedom at the public’s expense.
I urge Congress to restore environmental and climate funding, protect independent scientific research, defend the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, NEPA, and Endangered Species Act, strengthen disaster preparedness, and hold agencies accountable for weakening safeguards.
Americans deserve clean air, safe water, protected public lands, and a government that plans for the future rather than denying the crisis in front of us.
