2020-06-01 (for context) When peaceful protestors rallied near the White House at Lafayette Square to protest in the name of racial justice, the Trump administration allowed law enforcement to tear-gas protestors. The DOJ reached a settlement in 2022 for excessive force. Some news outlets reported that Trump made inquiries as to whether he was allowed to order law enforcement to “just shoot” the protestors.

2025-06-23 A US citizen, US Marine, and father of three Narcisco Barranco was beaten and detained outside a Home Depot while working a landscaping job. DHS tried to assert he assaulted them with a weedwhacker, but footage showed he did not assault anyone.

2025-07-10 During a raid in Camarillo, ICE detained disabled Iraq war Veteran George Retes while he was on the way to work. In the interview with NPR, Retes stated he was pepper sprayed, detained, strip searched, refused a lawyer or phone call, and kept for 3 days.

2025-09-23 ICE agents assaulted a woman during a Chicago protest.

2025-10-02 During a Memphis Safe Task Force conference, Stephen Miller told law enforcement they were “unleashed” and stated, “we are about to provide you with a level of support that you cannot even imagine”.
2025-10-02 ICE raided a Chicago apartment in the middle of the night using riot trucks, smoke grenades and helicopters. Agents used zip ties, dragged children out naked, and when residents asked ICE why they were zip-tying children too an agent responded, “fuck them kids”.
2025-10-03 News outlets in Chicago reported that masked federal agents threw chemical irritants outside the Logan Square grocery store.
2025-10-04 ICE agents attacked 84-year-old Laurie Eckman and 84-year-old Richard Eckman, knocked them down, sprayed them with chemical agents, and injured the woman by throwing a projectile at her head. Her husband – a Vietnam veteran – was harmlessly leaning on a walker just before the assault.
2025-10-04 ICE agents in Chicago opened fire and shot a U.S. citizen. The woman, bleeding profusely from multiple gunshot wounds, drove herself to a nearby business where workers tried to stop the bleeding and called 911. DHS alleged the woman was on their watchlist for doxxing agents online and claimed she tried to ram the vehicle of federal agents. According to news outlets, her lawyer stated footage from their body cam contradicted their accounts. In this case, agents wore body cam footage according to reports. In other cases, it has been reported that agents have not been wearing body cameras.

2025-10-25 ICE agents deployed tear gas in a park in Chicago, disrupting a local children’s Halloween party and parade. During the incident, agents in tactical gear pulled a 67-year-old man out of his car and dragged him in front of children. The man stated agents fractured his ribs.

2026-02-13 Former ICE attorney Ryan Schwank left the agency stating, “”I swore an oath to uphold the Constitution when I joined ICE…I followed it when I resigned…The legally required training program at the ICE academy is deficient, defective, and broken.” The full video is on CSPAN, but some of the clips I watched he cited he was duty bound to report that the legally required training for ICE was deficient, cut down by at least 240 hours, instructors were receiving secretive orders to violate the Constitution, and they ceased all the legal instruction regarding use of force to name a few.
2026-02-16 Two ICE agents were suspended and faced a criminal investigation for lying about shooting a Venezuelan immigrant Julio Cesar Sosa Celles and his cousin Alfredo Alejandro Aljouro on January 14th2026. DHS claimed the two attacked ICE agents with a snow shovel and broom, and Kristi Noem claimed it was an “attempted murder of federal law enforcement”, but video evidence contradicted DHS and Noem’s claims.
