SAMPLE LETTER
Dear Sir or Madam,
Your policies and rhetoric are driving Americans to turn against one another by fostering fear, division, and suspicion based on race, ethnicity, religion, and national origin. Racial profiling and the deliberate promotion of Islamophobia have become increasingly normalized. False and misleading narratives have been used to vilify Somalians, while Haitians, Hispanics, Middle Eastern communities, Asians, Muslims, Palestinians, and other minority groups have been disproportionately targeted because of who they are rather than what they have done.
Fundamental legal principles are also being undermined. The distinction between reasonable suspicion and due process has become blurred, creating an environment where constitutional protections are weakened in favor of broad assumptions and collective suspicion rather than individualized evidence.
Family separation is unacceptable under any circumstance. Children should never be taken from their parents as a matter of policy. Likewise, denying visas to broad groups of people while extending preferential treatment only to white Afrikaners raises profound concerns about unequal treatment and discriminatory immigration practices.
The expanding role of for-profit detention centers creates incentives that are fundamentally incompatible with justice and human dignity. The conduct of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) increasingly resembles that of a political police force, employing excessive force and operating in ways that raise serious concerns regarding the principles embodied in the Posse Comitatus Act and the appropriate limits of domestic law enforcement.
Across the country, disturbing reports continue to emerge of people being killed during law enforcement encounters, families being separated, individuals disappearing into detention systems with limited transparency, and detainees being held under conditions that many have described as inhumane. These developments evoke historical examples that should never be repeated. A society committed to liberty and justice must never allow detention, indefinite confinement, or mistreatment to become normalized.
The list below outlines my concerns in greater detail. Some of the information is included to provide historical context and illustrate why these developments warrant serious public attention.

2022-04-05 Vance campaigned as an America First Conservative. He said in his ad, “Are YOU a racist? Do you hate Mexicans? The media calls us racist for wanting to build Trump’s wall. They censor us, but it doesn’t change the truth. Joe Biden’s open border is killing Ohioans, with more illegal drugs, and more Democrat voters pouring into this country. This issue is personal. I nearly lost my mother to the poison coming across our border. No child should grow up an orphan.” [approved by JD Vance. Paid for by JD Vance for Senate Inc.]

2024-09-10 Trump falsely accused Haitian immigrants of eating pets during a debate and denied involvement with Project 2025.
2024-09-11 JD Vance defended spreading Springfield pet rumors on CNN, “When you have a lot of people saying ‘My pets are being abducted’ or ‘Geese at the city pond are being abducted and slaughtered right in front of us’, this is crazy stuff. And again, whether those exact rumors turn out to be mostly true, somewhat true, whatever the case may be – Kaitlan, this town has been ravaged by 20,000 migrants coming in. Health care costs are up. Housing costs are up. Communicable diseases like HIV and TB have skyrocketed in this small Ohio town. This is what Kamala Harris’s border policies have done. And I think it’s interesting, Kaitlan, that, that the media didn’t care about the carnage brought by these policies until we turned it into a meme about cats”.
