Question 1

(THIS QUESTION IS SIMILAR TO #2) President Trump created a federal task force to eradicate what he calls “anti-Christian bias.” The FBI has documented thousands of religion-based hate crimes, with Jewish Americans targeted most often and Muslim and Sikh Americans also facing substantial hostility. Hindu, Buddhist, and other minority-faith communities experience harassment and discrimination as well. If anti-Christian bias warrants its own federal task force, will you support equally empowered protections for every faith, or explain why one religion deserves a special government response that others do not?

Question 2

(THIS QUESTION IS SIMILAR TO #1) President Trump created a federal task force to eradicate what he calls “anti-Christian bias.” Yet Christians remain the nation’s largest religious group and hold enormous political and institutional influence. Religious institutions already enjoy taxpayer subsidies for their schools and special tax treatment. What specific, documented persecution justifies a federal task force devoted to one faith, and how will you ensure it does not become a vehicle for granting Christianity special government preference over other religions or nonbelievers?

Question 4

Christian nationalists are pushing the Ten Commandments and Bible-centered curricula into public schools, even though the First Amendment prohibits government from favoring one religion. If Christianity is going to receive classroom time and government support, when will students also receive comparable instruction in Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and other faiths, and protected time to observe their own religious practices? Do you support equal treatment for every faith, or do you believe public schools should promote Christianity above all others?
