SAMPLE LETTER
Dear Sir or Madam,
It is astonishing that you would allow a sitting president to remain in office after inciting an insurrection against the United States Capitol. That fact alone should have disqualified him from holding public office. Rather than condemning those responsible, he has consistently celebrated and defended them.
Trump referred to the January 6 insurrectionists as “hostages” and described the attack as a “beautiful day.” He even attempted to establish a fund to provide them with financial support, despite the serious crimes for which many were convicted. The so-called “J6 Prison Choir” is not a symbol of patriotism—it is a disgrace. That Trump chose to participate in promoting its debut album only reinforces his willingness to glorify criminal conduct.
Many of the individuals involved in the January 6 attack were members of extremist organizations such as the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys. Among those convicted or charged were repeat violent offenders, individuals convicted of sexually assaulting children, violent rapists, terrorists who planned violence against elected officials, and people responsible for violently assaulting—and in some cases contributing to the deaths of—law enforcement officers. Pardoning individuals from this group sends a dangerous message that political violence is excusable when it serves a preferred cause.
Inciting violence against our democratic institutions was already an extraordinary abuse of power. Pardoning those who carried out that violence only compounds it. Such actions undermine the rule of law, diminish accountability, and erode public trust in our institutions.
Trump’s conduct in both encouraging the attack and subsequently celebrating and rewarding those responsible is indefensible.
Below are some examples of the J6 timeline, lest we forget.
Chronology.
2020-01-01 Leaders of the “Stop the Steal” movement promoted false claims of fraud in the 2020 elections and organized protests leading up to the J6 insurrection.
2020-12-15 After Biden won Trump posted, “This Fake election can no longer stand. Get moving Republicans”.
2020-12-19 Trump posted, “Big protest in D.C on january 6th Be there, will be wild!”
2021-01-01 Unfounded claims were made that Charlie Kirk and Ginni Thomas funded transportation and encouraged attendance to the insurrection.
2021-01-02 Just prior to the J6 insurrection, Ted Cruz and a group of Republican senators publicly announced their intention to vote against accepting the electoral college results.
2021-01-06 People carried “Jesus is my Savior – Trump is my President” signs, even during the J6 riots.
2021-01-06 When insurrectionists demolished the capitol some relieved themselves on desks like animals while others brutally attacked law enforcement officers. One officer died of a stroke 7 hours later. Multiple lawsuits were filed for damages and bodily harm, but Trump refunded penalties to the insurrectionists and attempted to build a slush fund in 2026 for them to receive payouts.
2021-01-06 Jared Wise was caught on camera saying “kill ‘em all”. Trump later hired him on as a senior advisor to the DOJ.
2021-01-06 Tucker Carlson allegedly texted a producer about J6, “A couple of weeks ago, I was watching video of people fighting on the street in Washington,” Carlson texted a producer. “A group of Trump guys surrounded an Antifa kid and started pounding the living s**t out of him. It was three against one, at least. Jumping a guy like that is dishonorable obviously. It’s not how white men fight. Yet suddenly I found myself rooting for the mob against the man, hoping they’d hit him harder, kill him. I really wanted them to hurt the kid. I could taste it”.
2021-01-11 The House introduced Resolution 24 to impeach Trump for incitement of insurrection; it failed to secure a majority vote in February 2021.
2021-03-18 Trump was recorded saying the J6 rioters went because they thought the election was rigged.
2022-01-01 Julie Kelly published “January 6: How Democrats Used the Capitol Protest to Launch a War on Terror Against the Political Right”.
2022-06-09 A public hearing was held to investigate the insurrection.
2022-10-22 Oath Keepers members testified about a cache of weapons stashed at a hotel for potential Jan 6 violence.
2023-03-03 The J6 Prison Choir debuted for the first time, and their recording featured Donald Trump reciting the pledge of allegiance, which he recorded by phone from his Mar-a-Lago estate.
2023-05-11 Trump called the J6 Insurrection a “beautiful day”.
2023-12-06 In an interview with Hannity, Trump repeated his “dictator on day one” remark and referred to January 6 prisoners as “hostages.”
2023-12-06 During a campaign rally in Texas, Trump referred to the J6 prisoners as “hostages”.
2024-03-16 Trump said during a campaign rally in Vandalia Ohio, “If I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a blood bath for the whole – that’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a blood bath for the country. That’ll be the least of it. But they’re not going to sell those cars”.
2024-06-28 The Supreme Court threw out all charges on insurrectionist Joseph Fischer.
2024-10-17 During a campaign event in Miami Florida, Trump called January 6th a “day of love”.
2024-10-31 During a TPUSA rally in North Carolina JD Vance claimed J6 was not a constitutional crisis, but rather the opposite and that Trump was trying to challenge an election through constitutional means.
2024-12-02 Once she ran for Congress, Karoline Leavitt allegedly deleted old posts condemning January 6.
2025-01-20 Trump issued a blanket pardon for nearly 1,600 January 6 defendants, including some individuals with severe sexual-crime histories involving minors. RECOMMEND THIS VIDEO AND VIEWER DISCRETION (the child assault and rape charges are disturbing). Many of the insurrectionists included Proud Boys and Oath Keeper militia members who he called them “hostages”. He pardoned several convicted of sedition including founder of the Oath Keeper militia Stuart Rhodes, and 600 people charged with assaulting law enforcement. Insurrectionists used shields, poles, and cattle prods.
2025-02-20 Per Steve Bannon the J6 Prison Choir would perform at the Kennedy Center, but the Kennedy Center contests that it was not a “confirmed event”.
2025-04-21 Stephen Miller wrote on X, “If you were an American falsely accused of wrongdoing on January 6th it wasn’t merely difficult to get “due process,”, it was impossible. The entire system was rigged against you. All of it. Those persecuted Americans could only dream of the “due process” afforded illegal aliens”.
2025-06-28 The DOJ fired three prosecutors involved in the J6 prosecutions.
2025-07-23 Former J6er and “Q-Anon Shaman” Jacob Chansley turned on Trump and called him a fraud.
2025-08-03 Trump went after J6 prosecutor Jack Smith and several others.
2025-08-07 Jared Wise was hired on as a senior advisor to the Department of Justice, despite being at the J6 riots and caught on camera saying “Kill ‘em all”.
2025-08-28 J6 insurrectionists received refunds for their criminal fines.
2025-09-18 During an oversight committee hearing, Representative Jasmine Crockett shed light on the extremely violent and disturbing sexual-assault offenses of multiple J6 members who were put back onto our streets by the Trump administration. Many of those sexual criminal cases involved children.
2025-09-25 Casey Goonan was sentenced to 20 years and labeled a terrorist for setting off a series of Molotov cocktails during a protest on Gaza. By contrast, Trump pardoned J6 insurrectionist David Dempsy who pepper sprayed and beat multiple officers during the J6 riot.
2025-09-29 YouTube agreed to pay Trump $24.5 million to settle litigation related to his post–January 6 suspension. Trump celebrated the YouTube settlement and encouraged reposts supporting compensation for banned conservatives.
2025-10-11 Trump revived January 6 conspiracy claims, “THE BIDEN FBI PLACED 274 AGENTS INTO THE CROWD ON JANUARY 6. If this is so, which it is, a lot of very good people will be owed big apologies. What a SCAM – DO SOMETHING!!! President DJT”.
2025-10-21 Trump pardoned J6 rioter Christopher Moynihan, who was arrested four days later for threatening to assassinate Hakeem Jeffries.
2025-11-08 Prominent January 6 defendant John Banuelos, who had been pardoned by Trump, was arrested on sexual assault and kidnapping charges.
2025-11-09 Trump threatened to sue the BBC for $1 billion over alleged edits to coverage of his January 6 remarks.
2025-11-12 Eight senators added provisions to the budget bill allowing them to sue the federal government if they were ever investigated for January 6th at 500K per infraction.
2026-01-17 After he was pardoned by Trump, far right activist and J6er Jake Lang tried to hold an anti-Islam protest in Minneapolis.
2026-01-20 Trump pardoned Andrew Paul Johnson, a Capitol-riot defendant who was later accused of sexually abusing a child and attempting to buy the child’s silence with a promised $10 million payment.
2026-02-05 Pardoned J6er Jake Lang was arrested in Minneapolis after destroying a sculpture displayed by the local Veteran-ran Common Defense organization. One of the Veterans commented, “As a United States Marine, I swore an oath to the Constitution, not a political party; not an agency, the Constitution”. Another Veteran commented, “I gave eight years of my life in service to this country in the military. For a January 6 insurrectionist to destroy our display is an attack on the First Amendment veterans like me fought to defend”.
2026-03-07 A small plaque was quietly installed in the Capitol at 4am without ceremony in honor of the law enforcement agents who lost their lives during the insurrection. It was placed in a location where visitors do not go.
2026-03-31 Several January 6 defendants pardoned by Trump were later charged with new offenses, including assault, harassment, and alleged murder plots.
2026-04-14 The same DOJ that wants to fire people for speaking out about Charlie Kirk or deport people for protesting genocide MOVED TO VACATE the most serious J6 convictions by the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, making it as though these most severe crimes never even happened.
2026-05-16 Senator Bill Cassidy, who voted to convict Trump after January 6, lost his Louisiana primary.
2026-05-20 Two officers filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration for rewarding J6 insurrectionists with a slush fund.
2026-05-21 Senate Majority Leader John Thune responded to Trump’s J-6 Insurrectionist slush fund, “I think it’s hard to divorce anything that happens here from what’s happening in the political atmosphere around us”.
2026-05-21 Applications opened for a $1.8 billion compensation fund benefiting January 6 defendants and other Trump allies, including Enrique Tarrio, Mike Lindell, George Santos, Rod Blagojevich, and Adam Johnson.
2026-05-23 GOP Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky responded to Trump’s proposed $1.8B slush fund for J6 insurrectionists, “So the nation’s top law enforcement official is asking for a slush fund to pay people who assault cops. Utterly stupid, morally wrong. Take your pick”.
2026-05-24 GOP Senator Tom Tillis of North Carolina responded to Trump’s proposed $1.8B slush fund for J6 insurrectionists, calling it, “stupid on stilts”.
2026-07-12 Lindsey Graham died at 71. Trump gave Graham a life score of 99% during an interview, saying he’d dock points for criticism of J6, then claimed Graham’s death was a huge blow to the SAVE Act. Trump said, “He was a worker; he was really a worker. But he sounded great, actually, but he actually said he was tired. But he wanted to pass the SAVE America Act, and I said, ‘We’re going to get it done, Lindsey, we’re going to get it done, I’ll see you, like soon. We might even meet today.’”
