Dear Sir or Madam,
I am deeply concerned about the state of our economy and the direction in which our country is headed. These concerns are not limited to inflation, wages, housing costs, or job availability. They extend to a broader pattern of economic mismanagement, corporate consolidation, conflicts of interest, and a growing disconnect between political leadership and the daily realities facing ordinary Americans.
Millions of Americans are struggling to make ends meet. Parents are skipping meals so their children can eat. Workers are juggling multiple jobs while falling further behind. Yet instead of acknowledging this hardship, many political leaders and media personalities appear indifferent to it. We have reached a point where a national television anchor has suggested euthanizing homeless people, while political supporters celebrate policies that continue to worsen conditions for the poor and working class. Such callousness toward human suffering should alarm every American.
At the same time, the people entrusted with managing our economy appear increasingly detached from reality. The Director of the National Economic Council has publicly boasted about Americans’ credit card usage as if rising debt were a sign of prosperity. Donald Trump has suggested 50-year mortgages as a solution to housing affordability, a proposal that would saddle future generations with decades of additional debt rather than address the underlying causes of the housing crisis. These statements reflect a profound misunderstanding of the financial pressures facing working families.
Employment opportunities are becoming increasingly difficult to secure. Many job seekers report encountering misleading hiring practices, including “ghost jobs” and postings that appear designed merely to gauge the labor market rather than fill actual positions. As a result, unemployed Americans are forced to spend countless hours applying for jobs that may not even exist.
Meanwhile, large corporations continue to consolidate power across entire sectors of the economy. From media conglomerates to meat processing companies, monopolistic behavior has reduced competition, limited consumer choice, and concentrated economic power in the hands of a small number of corporations. At the same time, technology companies and billionaires are collecting and monetizing vast amounts of consumer data, enabling unprecedented surveillance of Americans’ shopping habits and purchasing behavior.
Equally troubling are the growing concerns about corruption and conflicts of interest at the highest levels of government. Reports continue to emerge involving insider trading allegations connected to powerful political figures. Trump Media and World Liberty Financial have generated substantial financial gains while Donald Trump remains a central political figure, raising legitimate questions about the intersection of public office and private enrichment. Americans deserve confidence that policy decisions are being made in the public interest rather than for personal or financial benefit.
Energy policy represents another area where the interests of powerful corporations appear to take precedence over the interests of the public. Americans are repeatedly told that expanded oil production is the answer to every economic challenge, despite growing demand for diverse and sustainable energy solutions. The “drill, baby, drill” agenda continues to be promoted even when many communities oppose further development. Once again, the priorities of large oil companies are being advanced at the expense of vulnerable communities, protected lands, and long-term environmental stewardship.
Finally, the United States is increasingly isolating itself from allies and trading partners around the world. At the same time, our economy has become intertwined with speculative and largely unregulated prediction markets, creating additional avenues for manipulation and instability. These developments raise serious questions about the resilience, transparency, and long-term health of our economic system.
Taken together, these issues paint a troubling picture of a country where concentrated wealth and power continue to expand while ordinary Americans struggle to afford basic necessities. The examples below illustrate the concerns outlined above. Some are included as historical context, but all help demonstrate the broader patterns that have led to my frustration and alarm.
Chronology.
1964-to-1992 Summer institute of Linguistics forced Ecuadorian people onto reservations at the will of oil companies. This was around the same time Brazil’s former dictatorship sought to assimilate and eliminate indigenous peoples in the Amazon for development.
1964-01-01 The US-funded Summer Institute of Linguistics proselytized to indigenous people in remote areas, fostered subservience and compliance, forced people onto reservations at the will of oil companies, and helped Brazil assimilate people of the Amazon.
1971-08-03 Virginian corporate attorney Lewis Powell wrote a confidential 8-page memo “Attack on American Free Enterprise System” outlining efforts for corporations to take over universities and media. He was later nominated by Nixon to the US Supreme Court in 1972. He sat on the Phillips-Morris board and argued cigarettes did not cause cancer.
1981-08-05 President Ronald Regan fired 11,345 air traffic controllers because they were on strike demanding better pay and conditions.
1987-01-01 Regan warned about the dangers of tariffs.

2016-09-21 Trump said he wanted to take the oil from Iraq, “You’re not stealing anything. We’re reimbursing ourselves”.
2016-09-21 Obama brokered a Memorandum of Understanding with Israel that would run through 2028. The bill would guarantee $3.3BN per year to Israel.
2017-06-05 Trump proposed firing 30,000 FAA workers from the federal payroll and privatizing the entire air traffic control system.
2017-11-01 The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 reduced corporate tax from 35% to 21%. As a result, the richest people took their own tax breaks while inflating their own wealth, it was the largest stock buyback in history, it caused a 120% billionaire boom, and it widened the deficit.
2017-11-24 Trump attempted to dismantle the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
2018-01-17 Apple announced it would invest $350B in the U.S. economy over the next 5 years.
2018-01-31 Amazon used wristbands to track worker productivity.
2018-02-01 Trump proposed $183M in cuts to Conservation Technical Assistance, which was designed to help farmers implement conservation practices.
2018-03-01 Trump imposed tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum from China.
2018-04-01 The U.S. entered a trade war with China.
2019-02-15 Trump declared a national emergency so he could redirect $8B in military construction and treasury funds into building the border wall***, and the ACLU sued.
2019-07-11 Trump posted “I am not a fan of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is highly volatile and based on thin air. Unregulated Crypto Assets can facilitate unlawful behavior, including drug trade and other illegal activity”. Then he launched his own crypto.
2020-03-16 The stock market crashed.
2020-05-26 America invested $15M to prevent screwworm and saved farmers an estimated $796M in damages.
2020-06-01 Polymarket was launched and gained rapid traction during both of Trump’s terms.
2020-09-19 Trump backed a TikTok deal where Oracle and Walmart partnered with ByteDance; Walmart would hold 7.5% and ByteDance 80%.
2020-10-28 Trump handed farmers bailouts after his first trade war.
2021-02-19 Americans were economically “battered” by the pandemic.
2021-08-13 JD Vance promoted an indoor farming company that faced allegations of misleading regulators and investors.
2021-10-18 Suppliers blamed supply chain issues for higher prices.
2022-01-01 Either due to lifestyle choice or financial constraints, many Americans started living in their vans. The number reached 1.9M in 2020, and escalated to 3.1M in 2022. Berkshire Hathaway gained a corner on the market by owning the largest RV manufacturers in the country.
2022-01-01 AI-driven dynamic pricing expanded across airlines, groceries, travel, and retail, using algorithms to maximize what consumers would pay. The Iran war, Trump’s tariffs, and emerging “K” economy of 2026 may have exacerbated it.
2022-03-02 Biden openly criticized the “Big Four” for manipulating the meat market.
2022-04-10 The House Oversight Committee investigated a $2 billion Saudi investment in Jared Kushner’s firm and Trump’s receipt of more than $250,000 in foreign gifts. In an article with CBS, Kushner stated he was not interested in rejoining the White House if Trump won the 2024 presidential election. In 2025, Kushner DID JOIN the White House as Trump’s special envoy in foreign affairs.
2022-07-01 The US slipped to 41st place worldwide on the list of developed countries. It is no longer considered a first-world nation.
2022-08-22 Amazon workers reported harsh conditions of excessive warehouse heat, no bathroom breaks, and penalties for talking in the aisles.
2023-01-01 Food prices remained inflated post pandemic in what some reports called “price setting”.
2023-02-08 During a State of the Union address, Biden was booed and heckled for predicting that Republicans would make Medicare and Medicaid cuts.
2023-05-07 HP introduced printer subscription tiers charging monthly fees, print limits, overage fees, and cancellation penalties.
2023-05-24 Several States passed legislation forcing Americans to divert their tax money from public schools towards private schools for the elite.
2023-11-01 After the Hamas attacks on Israel, lawmakers pushed for a TikTok ban over alleged anti-Israel bias; venture capitalist Jeff Morris described a “TikTok War.”
2024-01-10 The top 10% of Americans own 93% of US equities.

2024-05-06 Reports claimed lawmakers admitted TikTok ban efforts were tied to pro-Palestinian content.
2024-05-23 The Biden Administration and 39 States filed an anti-trust lawsuit against Live Nation and Ticketmaster. In 2026 Trump reached a settlement with Live Nation that required no divestment of Ticketmaster. A coalition of over 30 states rejected the settlement, arguing it was too weak. By April 2026 a federal jury found Live Nation and Ticketmaster liable on every antitrust count submitted.
2024-06-11 Trump posted on social media that bitcoin mining was the last line of defense against a CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency).
2024-07-10 Vance said during a National Conservatism convention, “Look, the thing on immigration is that no one can avoid that it has made our societies poorer, less safe, less prosperous, and less advanced.”
2024-07-18 Trump campaigned on the promise that he would reduce inflation on day one.
2024-07-24 The federal minimum wage of 7.25 had been stuck at that rate for 15 years.
2024-09-05 Vance claimed during a rally, “There is a logic to what the Democrats are trying to do. It’s disgusting, but there’s a logic to it. They want illegal aliens to steal everybody’s job, and now they want illegal aliens to steal everybody’s vote.”
2024-09-18 JD Vance funded AcreTrader, which led to consolidation of farmland and reduced competition. Allegedly, JD Vance’s firm bought up American farmland and resold it to foreign investors.
2024-10-02 Vance claimed, ”Illegal aliens competing with Americans for scarce homes is one of the most significant drivers of home prices in the country”.
2024-10-24 Yale reported on the ease of manipulating prediction markets.
2024-11-12 Trump appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to DOGE. The White House later alternated between claiming Musk was and was not leading DOGE. Musk was sending out his “What did you do last week” emails.
2024-12-08 Trump pledged, “we are not touching Social Security” and “we are not raising ages”.
2024-12-27 Algorithms increasingly track user behavior, fueling concerns about tech-billionaire influence and surveillance.
2025-01-01 Larry Ellison, OpenAI Sam Altman, and Masayoshi Son of Softbank announced The Stargate Project to invest $500B in AI infrastructure in the U.S. by 2029.
2025-01-06 The CFPB sued Vanderbilt for setting up borrowers to fail in manufactured home loans. Clayton Homes owns 50% of the manufactured house market, Berkshire Hathaway owns its finance, lease, insurance and property management companies. The allegation: the company makes the home virtually unaffordable after buyers already settled a deal, then take the property back from the buyer later. Homeowners also complained of quality issues such as “congolium”, particle board, heavy leaks, safety issues, cardboard under the vinyl, sheetrock under insulation, and mold.
