SAMPLE LETTER
Dear Sir or Madam,
I find the current administration’s treatment of children, both in the United States and abroad, morally indefensible. Time and again, this administration has supported, defended, or pursued policies that place political objectives above the welfare of children.
It has continued to support military actions that have resulted in the deaths of countless children. It has condoned family separation and harsh immigration policies that inflict lasting trauma on minors. It has failed to treat school shootings as the national emergency they are. It has sought to shape educational institutions around a narrow ideological agenda rather than fostering critical thinking and intellectual independence.
I am equally disturbed by actions that have threatened children’s health and well-being. Reductions in support for food assistance programs have left vulnerable families struggling to feed their children. Cuts to pediatric research and public health initiatives jeopardize the lives of young people who depend on those programs. The normalization of anti-vaccine rhetoric risks undermining decades of medical progress and exposing children to preventable diseases. Reports of food aid being destroyed or withheld while children face hunger around the world are especially troubling.
The measure of a society is how it treats its most vulnerable members. Children cannot vote, hire lobbyists, or defend themselves in the political arena. They depend on adults and institutions to protect them. When a government repeatedly adopts policies that harm children, neglect their needs, or treat their welfare as an afterthought, it reveals a profound failure of leadership and moral responsibility.
These concerns are not isolated incidents. They reflect a broader pattern of governance that, in my view, has shown far too little concern for the safety, health, dignity, and future of children. No administration should be beyond criticism when the well-being of the next generation is at stake.
The examples below further illustrate these concerns. SOME OF THE CONTENT LISTED IS FOR HISTORICAL CONTEXT.

1969-01-01 The Black Panther Party launched its Free Breakfast for Children Program to combat student hunger.
1982-01-01 Televangelist Jerry Falwell founded Virginia’s Liberty Godparent Home as an alternative to abortion. Former residents alleged coercion, shame, manipulation, forced birth, and pressured adoptions.
1997-05-07 Alan Dershowitz argued in an article that statutory-rape laws were outdated and that the age of consent should be lowered to 15. Dershowitz later served on Jeffrey Epstein’s legal team and got Epstein a plea deal.
2017-01-20 The Trump administration used child separation as a deterrent to asylum seekers.
2017-05-01 The Criminal Consequence Initiative in Yuma, Arizona prosecuted first-time border crossers and enabled family separations involving children as young as 10 months old.
2019-11-08 Rebecca Friedrichs asserted that teachers’ unions promoted socialism. She claimed during a Tucker Carlson interview that pushing for free lunch programs, healthcare, and emotional support is an attempt to replace the family with indoctrination and communism.
2021-04-29 JD Vance posted, “Universal day care is class war against normal people”. He also tweeted, “It turns out that normal Americans care more about their families than their jobs and want a family policy that doesn’t shunt their kids into crap daycare so they can enjoy more “freedom” in the paid labor force”.
2021-05-17 Joel Greenberg plead guilty to six charges including sex trafficking of a minor and was sentenced in December 2022.
2021-06-17 The Supreme Court ruled in favor of a Catholic foster-care agency that excluded same-sex couples in Fulton v. City of Philadelphia. Justice Samuel Alito argued the ruling did not go far enough, writing, “This decision might as well be written on dissolving paper sold in magic shops”.
2022-01-01 PragerU announced they would “go toe-to-toe” with PBS Kids and Disney to promote conservative-only content.
2022-03-29 Kash Patel published a politically biased children’s book The Plot Against the King, featuring King Donald, Hillary’s horrible plot, and Komey’s spying slugs.
2022-05-25 Beto O’Rourke was physically removed from Governor Greg Abbott’s Uvalde shooting press conference after criticizing state gun policies.
2023-09-29 During the Benny Show, Mike Davis said, “We’re gonna put kids in cages, it’s going to be glorious. We’re gonna detain a lotta people, Seig Gulag.”
2023-10-16 The Daily Wire launched Bentkey, a children’s streaming service offering explicitly conservative indoctrination to children.
2024-01-04 After the Perry, Iowa school shooting, Trump told the community they would “have to get over it.”
2024-02-15 The Creating Hope Reauthorization Act, intended to encourage development of treatments for rare pediatric diseases, faced expiration without action from the administration.
2024-09-05 During a campaign rally in Mesa Arizona, JD Vance said, ”…one of the ways that you might be able to relieve a little bit of pressure on people who are paying so much for daycare is make it so that, you know, maybe, like, Grandma or Grandpa wants to help out a little bit more, or maybe there’s an aunt or uncle that wants to help out a little bit more…”.
2024-12-16 A Human Rights Watch report examined the use of family-separation as a deterrent and cited that 1,360 children remained separated from their parents six years later.
2024-12-23 A House Ethics Committee report concluded Matt Gaetz had engaged in illicit drug use and sex with underage girls.

2025-07-04 The “Big Beautiful Bill” sharply reduced eligibility for food assistance and other aid programs serving low-income families.
2025-07-14 The Trump administration allowed USAID food stocks for starving children to expire and be incinerated. Members who were left in USAID reached out to the Trump administration to ask for release of food stocks intended to feed 30,000+ starving children. The administration ignored the requests for weeks, allowed the food stock to expire, then announced it would incinerate the food. It was roughly 500 metric tons of food they allowed to spoil then incinerated, rather than feed hungry children.
2025-07-31 Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent clarified that “Trump Baby Accounts” were intended to supplement, not replace, Social Security. However, reports also indicated he previously referred to them as a “back door for privatizing Social Security”.

2025-08-18 Teachers in California, Oklahoma, and New York are now required to pass a PragerU-developed “America First” assessment which promotes partisan ideology and includes questions that push 2020 false electoral claims.
2025-08-25 Americans United wrote, “PragerU is no longer a fringe media company. It’s institutionalized and government sanctioned. Right now, PragerU is offered in eight states, including Florida, Louisiana and Texas - all states whose legislatures have been eager to impose religion on public schools.”

2025-10-28 Rob Schmitt commented on both Newsmax and X that there should be a weight limit for SNAP recipients, claiming benefits were going to people who “weigh 300 pounds” and were “selling their benefits to get their nails done and buy weaves”.

2025-12-26 Right-wing vlogger Nick Shirley alleged widespread childcare fraud involving Somali communities. The claims prompted investigations, funding freezes, and harassment directed at Minnesota childcare centers. Both JD Vance and Pam Bondi publicly praised Shirley. Did You Know?
