SAMPLE LETTER
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my deep concern about what I view as the Trump administration’s rhetoric and policies toward disabled Americans, seniors, veterans, and other vulnerable populations. Actions such as cutting the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), imposing enrollment moratoriums for medical equipment and supplies, reducing nursing positions, and interfering with end-of-life care decisions have raised serious concerns about the administration’s priorities.
I am also troubled by efforts to defund or oppose legislation intended to assist veterans, people with disabilities, women’s reproductive rights, and individuals experiencing homelessness. Repeated proposals involving the privatization of Social Security, negative portrayals of Social Security beneficiaries, and discussions about raising the retirement age further contribute to these concerns. Additionally, the administration has, at times, dismissed accessibility initiatives as being too “woke,” which many view as disregarding the needs of people with disabilities.
Taken together, these actions and statements suggest a lack of compassion and respect for some of the nation’s most vulnerable citizens. In my view, effective leadership should prioritize the well-being and dignity of all Americans. The examples below illustrate the basis for my concerns and frustration. Some are included primarily to provide context for the broader pattern I believe they represent.

1973-01-22 Roe v. Wade legalized abortion.

1982-01-01 Televangelist Jerry Falwell founded Virginia’s Liberty Godparent Home as an alternative to abortion. Former residents alleged coercion, shame, manipulation, forced birth, and pressured adoptions.
1990s
1994-01-01 Evangelicals pushed a national “purity” movement containing distorted and misleading information, racist stereotypes and anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric.
2001
2001-09-09 Republicans restricted federal funding for STEM cell research, limiting life-changing possibilities for regenerative medicine and destroying the path to curing things like Parkinson’s, diabetes, and heart failure.
2005
2005-01-01 RFK Jr. published, “Deadly Immunity”, claiming government health agencies colluded with big pharma to hide the dangers of vaccines.
2012
2012-03-01 Rush Limbaugh attacked women asking for birth control, “So, Ms. Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, here’s the deal: If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. And I’ll tell you what it is. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch”.

2013-08-13 Companies intentionally cut employee hours just so they didn’t have to meet ACA healthcare requirements.
2014
2014-01-01 The Affordable Care Act was fully implemented. This legislation was designed to prohibit insurers from denying coverage or charging more based on pre-existing conditions, and to stop lifetime caps. It also mandated a standard level of care for insurance plans.
2014-06-24 The GOP repeatedly attacked Michelle Obama for her efforts to introduce a nutrition program in schools that leaned heavily towards fresh fruits and vegetables.
2016
2016-10-26 Parents were told to administer bleach-based pills and injections to autistic children. Look up the brand-name “Miracle Mineral Solution”.

2017-01-03 News stories circulated around, “Make America Mate Again”.
2017-01-11 Scientific American published a story about how RFK distorted vaccine science.
2019
2019-01-01 Alt-right women’s magazine Evie was founded by the Hugoboom family. Its 2024 cover featured “Ballerina Farm” and “The Importance of Being Sexy,” promoting the trad-wife movement. Hugoboom also launched the “Toxic Breakup” supplement, marketed to “detox the body” after stopping birth control. In 2022, the owners launched a menstrual-tracking app funded by Peter Thiel that drew controversy for its pro-life rhetoric.
2019-06-11 Biden made a promise to cure cancer during his campaign.
2019-06-18 During a kickoff rally in Orlando Florida Trump claimed he would come up with the cure to cancer.
2020
2020-03-24 Trump falsely claimed that COVID would “disappear” by Easter.
2020-03-27 Trump signed a $2.2T stimulus bill called the CARES Act.
2020-03-27 Apple released a dedicated COVID-19 app with screening tools, symptom checkers, and CDC guidelines.
2020-04-01 Karoline Leavitt leveraged “blue-collar roots,” though reports said her family business received $250,635 in two Paycheck Protection Program loans in February and April 2020, as well as two Economic Injury Disaster (EIDL) Loans totaling $160,000, also in April 2020.
2020-04-23 During a COVID press conference, Trump mused over injecting disinfectant as treatment. When a reporter told Trump to stop spreading dangerous misinformation Trump lashed out.
2020-09-11 The first Trump administration withheld healthcare funds for FDNY’s 9/11 responders. GOP members frequently post “Never Forget”, but then they turn around and forget our heroes.
2020-11-20 Jay Bhattacharya authored the Great Barrington Declaration in 2020 which argued against COVID lockdowns even before vaccines were developed. In 2026 he was the acting CDC director who blocked COVID vaccination reports.
2020-11-24 Vance said on The Chris Buskirk Show, “There’s just these basic cadences of life that I think are really powerful and really valuable when you have kids in your life. And the fact that so many people, especially in America’s leadership class, just don’t have that in their lives, you know, I worry that it makes people more sociopathic and ultimately our whole country a little bit less…less mentally stable”.
2021
2021-01-01 RFK Jr.’s Children’s Health Defense published The Measles Book; Thirty-Give Secrets the Government and the Media Aren’t Telling You, to push the conspiracy that the government and media are hiding vaccine information.
2021-04-15 Sixty-three Republicans voted against the COVID 19 Hate Crimes Act, also called the Anti-Asian Hate Crime Bill.
2021-05-20 A civil rights group sued Trump for referring to COVID as “Chinese Virus”, “China Virus”, “Wuhan Virus”, and “Kung Flu Virus”. Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer posted, “Wait a minute… After months of being told it was racist to refer to COVID as a ‘Chinese virus’ the WP refers to its new strains as ‘British and South African variants.’ So you can use the name of the nation where it comes from, so long as that nation is not China. Got it.”
2021-06-01 Some vaccine skeptics promoted ivermectin (horse dewormer) as a COVID treatment, later citing Merck’s Pentagon oral-treatment deal as supposed proof.
2021-07-29 JD Vance’s redundant “childless cat ladies” remarks made headlines.
2021-08-22 Larry Elder told the crowd at a campaign stop in Fresno he would repeal COVID-19 vaccines and mask mandates.
2021-09-17 During an interview on Jack Murphy Live, JD Vance claimed that COVID masking traumatized children, chastised teachers for teaching about slavery, attacked CRT, claimed “wokeism” assimilation, and praised Curtis Yarvin.
2021-09-22 Vance was asked if a woman should be forced to carry a child to term after she was victim of incest or rape. He didn’t say no.
2022
2022-06-24 When the courts overturned Roe v. Wade Justice Samuel Alito asserted that abortion didn’t have anything to do with gender equity, wasn’t an economic issue, and claimed that “women are not without electoral or political power”, contradicting evidence of racial divide, demographic disparities, and sometimes women having no power because they are not given agency in circumstances of abuse.
2022-06-24 After the Trump administration overturned Roe v. Wade, the ability to ban contraception was returned to the States. This left several health organizations afraid to offer contraception for fear of breaking the law. One Attorney General nominee even compared birth control to fentanyl.
2022-07-21 Scott Perry and other GOP members voted against the Right to Contraception Act.
2022-07-28 Matt Gaetz mocked abortion-rights supporters at Turning Point Action, saying, “Why is it that the women with the least likelihood of getting pregnant are the ones most worried about having abortions? Nobody wants to impregnate you if you look like a thumb”.
2022-08-19 Amber Thurman died after delayed abortion-related care under restrictive state laws. Trump later dismissed questions about the case during a Fox forum. Amber passed away from preventable septic shock and retained products of conception following a medication abortion, with delays in receiving necessary medical care contributing to her death. The care was delayed because when she showed up at Piedmont Henry Hospital for a routine D&C to remove fetal tissue from her body that hadn’t been expelled, she was denied immediate treatment because her State had made performing the procedure a felony. Doctors would have been prosecuted for up to a decade in prison. She waited 20 hours in a hospital bed while providers monitored her blood pressure sinking and organ failure before they operated, but by then it was too late. During a forum with Fox News on women’s issues, Trump was asked, ”…Amber Thurman’s family have come out on a press call and they’re doing what’s called a prebuttal to our town hall right now…” to which Trump replied ”…Oh that’s nice. We’ll get better ratings, I promise.”*

2025-05-31 Joni Ernst filmed herself mocking critics of Medicaid cuts, “I made an incorrect assumption that everyone in the auditorium understood that, yes we are all going to perish from this earth. So, I apologize, and I’m really really glad that I didn’t have to bring up the subject of the tooth fairy as well…” and then ended it with, “…for those that would like to see eternal and everlasting life, I encourage you to embrace my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ”.
2025 June
2025-06-06 Unite4Veterans rallied in Washington DC to protest Trump’s VA cuts.
2025-06-09 RFK fired all 17 members of the CDC’s vaccine panel and backfilled the advisory committee with ant-vaxxers.
2025-06-13 A VA nurse explained during an interview, “there has been a long-time nursing staffing crisis…on top of that they are saying ‘not only are we not going to hire and fill those positions, we’re going to get rid of more staff”.
2025-06-16 A judge attempted to rebuke Trump’s meritless cuts to NIH based solely on DEI, but the Supreme Court blocked that judge’s order August 21 2025. Some $800M in grants continued to be cut based on DEI, health disparities, and COVID 19.

2025-07-14 The Trump administration allowed USAID food stocks for starving children to expire and be incinerated. Members who were left in USAID reached out to the Trump administration to ask for release of food stocks intended to feed 30,000+ starving children. The administration ignored the requests for weeks, allowed the food stock to expire, then announced it would incinerate the food. It was roughly 500 metric tons of food they allowed to spoil then incinerated, rather than feed hungry children.
2025-07-17 Trump submitted a message via Truth Social that Bristol-Myers-Squibb and Pfizer have lowered the cost of Eloquis.
2025-07-17 The Trump administration officially terminated the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline specialized services for LGBTQ+ youth.

2025-09-03 Desantis approved a vaccine mandate removal in Florida. Florida’s Surgeon General Joseph Lapado said, “What you put into your body is because of your relationship with your body and your God”.
2025-09-03 Florida pushed its vaccine bans on schoolchildren.
2025-09-04 RFK admitted he did not know major COVID statistics during a Senate hearing.
2025-09-08 Trump paused funding for special-education programs and teacher-training initiatives, giving affected organizations one week to appeal. 2025-09-09 RFK unveiled his “Make Our Children Healthy Again” initiative, with a sweeping overhaul to policies based on his version of “gold-standard” pseudoscience.
