SAMPLE LETTER
Dear Sir or Madam,
Freedom From Religion Foundation Co-President Annie Laurie Gaylor wrote, “Our Constitution is godless by design. The government has no authority to organize religious revivals, much less use them to promote a Christian nationalist agenda.”
That is precisely the issue we are facing today. Government institutions are increasingly being used to advance a particular religious and political ideology instead of remaining neutral.
Students are having the Ten Commandments and biblical stories pushed on them in public schools, excluding other religions and nonreligious viewpoints. Outside of school, organizations such as PragerU and BentKey continue that indoctrination through media aimed at children. Schools already have debate teams and other extracurricular activities. The government has no business incorporating Turning Point USA propaganda into public education. If families want to participate in those organizations, they are free to do so privately. Taxpayers should not be funding political indoctrination or enriching another 501(c)(3) organization that leverages religion for influence and profit. We have seen how figures such as Erika Kirk profit by selling merchandise and soliciting donations. Why should the government be promoting that?
The Military Religious Freedom Foundation received hundreds of complaints from every branch of the military after commanders reportedly told subordinates that the war in Iran was a biblical mandate and that President Trump had been anointed by God to ignite Armageddon. That has no place in the United States military.
At the same time, a growing culture of personality has elevated Donald Trump to near-messianic status. Religious figures such as Paula White have compared him to Jesus, images portraying him as Jesus or the Pope are widely circulated, golden statues of Trump have become recurring symbols, and Trump has repeatedly shared or amplified this imagery on Truth Social rather than rejecting it. That is not Christianity—it is ego and idolatry.
Many Trump-aligned religious organizations also sympathize with white nationalist movements and display “Appeal to Heaven” signs outside their homes and workplaces. Historically, movements that exploit religion for political power have caused immense harm. These organizations weaponize faith for money, power, and influence. They are wolves in sheep’s clothing, using religion to divide Americans instead of bringing them together.
No one is arguing against anyone’s right to practice their religion. The objection is to using government power to promote one religious ideology over all others. That movement is performative, politically motivated, and transparently self-serving. It misuses faith to divide, conquer, and enrich itself, and that is why so many people reject it.
Chronology.
1964-01-01 The US-funded Summer Institute of Linguistics proselytized to indigenous people in remote areas, fostered subservience and compliance, forced people onto reservations at the will of oil companies, and helped Brazil assimilate people of the Amazon.
1966-01-01 Jerry Falwell founded the whites-only Lynchburg Christian Academy to circumvent the 1954 ruling to ban segregation. He wrote in his book ‘America Can Be Saved’, “I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won’t have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again and Christians will be running them”. In 1977 courts ruled that segregated private religious schools could not qualify as charitable organizations or retain tax exempt status.
1969-07-12 The National Security Council characterized progressive Catholic clergy as an “increasingly disruptive force”, writing that “sermons and writings have already aroused the concern of Conservative church officials and military leaders” .
1971-03-05 Nixon stated in a directorate that they were threatened because priests were working with the peasants and workers “against the oligarchs and the armies”.
1973-10-01 Pinochet with the help of the U.S. funding carried out Operation Condor charged with eliminating perceived opponents of the military regime. An estimated 50,000 were killed, 30,000 missing, and 400,000 were imprisoned and tortured. In 1974-12-15 Pinochet personally attended the Jotabeche Pentecostal Methodist Church in Santiago Chile two days after those evangelicals pledged their support for Pinochet. Billy Graham personally praised Pinochet as a “great Christian leader”.
1975-01-01 The Banzer Plan was developed to deliberately discredit liberation theology and suppress left-wing Roman Catholic dissent. Bolivian intelligence joined with the U.S. CIA to plant literature and shut down any progressive church publications.
1982-01-01 Televangelist Jerry Falwell founded Virginia’s Liberty Godparent Home as an alternative to abortion. Former residents alleged coercion, shame, manipulation, forced birth, and pressured adoptions.
1982-03-23 Self-proclaimed born-again Pentecostal Efrain Rios Montt carried out one of the largest genocides against the Maya, with financial backing from the US. He was convicted of genocide in 2013. Ronald Regan called him “a man of great personal integrity”. Jerry Falwell supported him, and Pat Robinson interviewed him on the 700 Club. Christianity Today’s Luis Palau said, “It’s great to have a Christian president as a model…the hand of God appears to be on him”.
1989-06-12 Megachurch founder and televangelist Jerry Falwell campaigned for a so-called “moral majority”, calling Regan “God’s instrument”, labeling Democrats as radicals, and weaponizing religion for political power. He stated, “Our goal has been achieved. The religious right is solidly in place and religious conservatives in America are now in for the duration”.
1992-08-17 Pat Buchanan declared a cultural and religious war as part of his “Make America First Again” campaign.
1996-01-01 Peter Wagner started the New Apostolic Reformation. Context: They follow the Seven Mountain Mandate, dominion theology, and they make up approximately 41% of America.
2003-01-01 Janet Porter founded the conservative Christian ministry Faith 2 Action, which was classified as a hate group in 2018. She authored HB493 Ohio “Heartbeat Bill”, claimed gay marriage caused Noah’s floods, and was the director of the Center for Reclaiming America which is a far-right organization bent on returning society to a “biblical worldview”.
2005-01-30 Evangelical Christian Nationalist and political activist David Barton was named by Time Magazine in 2005 as one of the nations “25 Most Influential Evangelicals”. He believes the separation of church and state is a myth, is a founder of WallBuilders, and is an author.
2015-08-27 Trump said the Bible was his favorite book but couldn’t recite or share one passage.
2016-11-08 Michele Bachmann and David Barton hosted “Election Coverage in the Spirit of Faith”, which was organized by Kenneth Copeland ministries. Weaponizing faith for control in politics might be a sin.
2018-05-08 Pope Francis warned people not to enter dialogue with the devil, calling the devil “The Great Liar”. Pope Francis issued a second warning in 2020, telling people not to have dialogue with the devil, adding that Jesus himself does not enter dialogue with the devil. In 2023 Pope Francis issued a third and final warning not to enter dialogue with the devil. Pope Francis then rebuked the Trump administration for their immigration policy and cruelty, and for JD Vance’s sudden switch to Christianity. He passed away on April 21, 2025 after a visit from JD Vance.
2018-10-02 The Christian drama film The Trump Prophecy was released. Funded by Liberty University for $2M, it is a drama based on the book The Trump Prophecies which pushes the narrative that Trump was ordained by God to save America.

2026-04-13 Trump admonished Pope Leo XIV for not supporting war. Trump said, “He’s a very liberal person, and he’s a man that doesn’t believe in stopping crime. He’s a man that doesn’t think that we should be toying with a country that wants a nuclear weapon so they can blow up the world. I’m not a fan of Pope Leo”. Pope Leo said, “I have no fear of the Trump administration”.
2026-04-14 Turning Point USA rallies in Georgia attracted an embarrassingly small crowd, and TPUSA blamed it on left wing activists.
2026-04-15 JD Vance and Mike Johnson lashed out at the Pope for criticizing Trump’s elective war in Iran. Vance threatened the Pope should “be careful talking about theology,” while Johnson cited “Just War Doctrine.” The Pope later warned against manipulating religion for political, economic, or military purposes and condemned a world “ravaged by a handful of tyrants.”
2026-04-16 Hegseth compared reporters covering the Iran war to the Pharisees, the biblical Jewish group that opposed Jesus.
